I’m Sara. Dog mom to the cutest Shih Tzu ever named Tucker (get it?) and an advocate of healthy living. I’ve created this page to share my journey to heal my autoimmune disease through diet and positive lifestyle changes. Using food as medicine has been life changing for me and though keeping a “clean” and regimented diet can seem like a hassle, my goal is to share how getting a little creative with food can be fun, delicious and help your body heal. In addition to diet, there are other things you can do to improve your overall health and wellness. I’ll share my favorite natural beauty products, stress relief techniques, recipes, supplements and more!
My Journey
I must admit that I haven’t always put such a strong emphasis on health and wellness. If anything, I was the complete opposite, eating highly processed food, not getting enough sleep and just not understanding the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. My journey started when I was diagnosed with Epstein Barr Virus (EBV). I’ve struggled with the virus chronically activating for over 10 years and was (and still am) frustrated by the lack of knowledge on the virus. I’ve had many doctors tell me “it’s just mono” or “you can only get mono once”. Due to my chronic EBV, I have struggled with other health issues, many of which can be related to the virus. I’ve suffered from everything from severe fatigue to digestion issues, anxiety, an under active thyroid, fatigued adrenals and more. It’s through my own research and the discovery of a functional medicine approach that has led me on my journey to healing. If you suffer from any chronic health issue, I would recommend that you to find a doctor that uses a functional approach that encourages finding the cause of the issue you are facing, rather than throwing a medication at you that might just be masking the symptoms. I still have a ways to go in my journey. I continue to suffer from fatigue and wouldn’t consider myself completely “healed” by any means. What I can tell you is that my quality life has drastically increased and I have the knowledge and the tools to better manage my symptoms. Through this process I’ve become extremely passionate about living a healthy and balanced lifestyle. I truly hope that my tips and suggestions can help some of you on your journey to healing!
